Emily Blunt Stars in Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day,’ a Timely
Spielberg Unveils Eerie ‘Disclosure Day’ Teaser: A Return to UFO Mystery That Hits Close to Home
Steven Spielberg, the legendary filmmaker who first made the world believe in friendly aliens with E.T. and left generations staring at the night sky after Close Encounters of the Third Kind, has officially pulled back the curtain on his next big event film: Disclosure Day.
The first teaser trailer dropped on December 16, and it’s already sending chills across the internet – not with jump scares, but with a slow-burning sense of dread that feels eerily relevant in an era of UAP hearings and government whistleblowers.
The trailer opens with a haunting voiceover: “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?”
What follows is pure Spielberg suspense. Emily Blunt delivers a gripping performance as a television meteorologist whose live broadcast is interrupted by something inexplicable – strange clicking sounds emanating from her mouth, as if she’s being used as a conduit for an otherworldly message. We see crop circles forming overnight, panicked officials scrambling to contain information, and ordinary people racing to reveal a truth the world may not be ready to hear.
The final tagline lingers: “This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to … Disclosure Day.”
Emily Blunt leads an impressive ensemble that includes Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, and Wyatt Russell. The screenplay is penned by David Koepp – Spielberg’s longtime collaborator behind Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds – from an original story by the director himself. Adding to the anticipation, composer John Williams returns for what will be his 30th collaboration with Spielberg, promising a score filled with wonder and unease.
The film’s marketing campaign began months ago with cryptic billboards appearing in major cities, featuring a stylized upside-down eye within a bird silhouette and the ominous phrase “All Will Be Disclosed.” The mystery paid off – the title reveal and teaser have ignited massive online discussion.
Disclosure Day is set to arrive in theaters, including IMAX, on June 12, 2026, via Universal Pictures.
More than two decades after his last full-scale alien invasion story, Spielberg appears poised to once again challenge how we think about our place in the cosmos. In a time when real-world questions about unidentified phenomena dominate headlines, Disclosure Day may prove to be his most timely film yet.
